Ray Garcia is the managing director of Buoyant Capital, a global peer advisory think-tank addressing the growth challenges of small to medium sized enterprises. The firm coordinates its team of experts to help its clients improve competitiveness through talent management, global market expansion partnership access, technology asset management, capital investment and restructuring. Buoyant Capital was founded in 2000 in New York City and has helped launch several start-up companies and works as an advisor to company founders, CEO’s, and their investors. Ray has over 20 years of experience as a technology entrepreneur, as company CTO co-founder, for four venture-backed companies. Since 2015 he is serving as a business expert to EU Commission Horizon 2020 SME innovation instrument where he is evaluating commercialization grant proposals of technology ventures and coaching company executives who have received grant funding.
The Royal Academy of Engineering (ES)
The Royal Academy of Engineering is an institution that is at the vanguard of technical knowledge, that promotes excellence, quality and competence of Spanish Engineering in their diverse disciplines and acting fields.
The principal asset of the Royal Academy of Engineering comes from the academics that compose it: 60 outstanding professionals from different disciplines of Engineering and Architecture, from both the Academic and the Business environment, that develop their duty of fomenting quality and competitiveness within the Spanish Engineering.
Through a vast network that links universities, companies, industries and foundations, other Royal Academies, the public administrations, international organisms and the media, the Royal Academy of Engineering develops its activity as an Engineering “think tank”.
The RAI add value through the publishing of their reports and institutional statements about actual issues with decisive technical implications for our country. It is also qualified to asses in an impartially, balance and competent way to the industries, different administrations, European authorities and other organisms that require it.
Gonzalo León (ES)
Gonzalo León is a Doctor in Telecommunications Engineering by the Technical University of Madrid (UPM) and a Telematics Engineering Professor in the Superior Technical School of Telecommunication Engineers of UPM. He has devoted his research activity to the development of software systems and in the transfer models of technology, participating in various National Projects and in the Framework Programme of the European Union. He has been General Vice-Director of international relations of R&D and Vice-Secretary of the General National Plan of R+D at the Ministry of Education and Culture and Secretary General of Scientific Policy at the Science and Technology Ministry.
In April 2004, he was appointed as Vice Chancellor of Research in the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, position that he occupied until December 2013. In January 2013 he is appointed Director of the Technological Innovation Support Centre, position that he still occupies. In January 2013 he was also appointed Deputy to the Chancellor for Strategic Programs until April 2016 in which he is named Delegado del Rector para Partenariados de Innovación.
He has been president and member of diverse expert groups of the European Union. He has presided the Advisory Group for Space Investigation of the Framework Program of R&D of the European Union, the group of experts for the monitoring of the Lisbon Strategy and the Research Infrastructure. He has been a speaker in the High Level Civil Servants Group of the G8 for big scientific facilities. Currently, he is the Spanish representative in the EU FET Flagship “Human Brain Project”.
In the Spanish context, he is the Vice-President of the Technology for Defence and Security Program, and president of the New Technology Commission of CESEDEN. He is Member of the Innovative Companies Forum (FEI) and participates or has participated in the sponsorship of several foundations and administrative councils of companies as a representative of the UPM and the Spanish government.
Angel Alba (ES)
Angel is a consultant specialist in strategic innovation and accelerating innovation processes and projects. Innovation coach of the European Commission for the SME Instrument.
He has more than 20,000 hours of experience in innovation projects. He worked at Procter & Gamble for 7 years and after that he worked as Managing Director of the first Tech Center of KIBS in ES. In 2012 he launched his own consultancy start-up, called Innolandia.es, achiving +140 clients in 7 countries in 4 years.
He is certified innovation consultant and professor for the EOI Foundation (under the Ministry of Industry), working in several innovation and entrepreneurships projects and courses.
He is specialist in helping organizations and entrepreneurs to innovate sustainable and continuously and in designing new products and services with agile tools such as Design Thinking and Lean Start-up.
